Land Development Models
Hastings Industrial Development, New Zealand
Hastings is located on the East Coast of New Zealand's North Island in the Hawke's Bay. It has a population of 70,000 and form acts as the industrial centre for the region of Hawke's Bay. In 2005 Hastings District Council commissioned us to conduct a traffic impact assessment of an expansion of the supply of industrial land on the outskirts of Hastings.
Christchurch International Airport, New Zealand
Christchurch is a city located in the middle of NZ's South Island on the East Coast with a population of 330,000. The region has experienced a significant surge in visitor numbers in recent years - many of them arriving through Christchurch International Airport. When combined with a boost in commercial activity near the airport a decision was made to conduct a study in look at how future growth could be accommodated.
We were commissioned to conduct a traffic impact assessment of the proposed developed using the existing Christchurch TRACKS Model. We
- Cordoned off an area of the Christchurch TRACKS Model containing the Airport and land owned by the airport;
- Refined the zone structure in the cordoned area so each business lot and car park area was represented by its own zone;
- Generated a model form that had both the Airport model and wider Christchurch model to work together; and
- Validated the traffic flows along each of the main links and turning movements at key intersections.
