Accessibility Mapping - A new feature for Tracks
Wednesday, Jan 11 2012
Access is a TRACKS based accessibility program that can be used to analyse and plot the accessibility of households or population to various land use activities or any combination of activities. This can be analysed using networks for walking, cycling, public transport or motor vehicle.
Access can provide information and plots for origin based analysis (Threshold analysis) or destination based analysis (Continuous Mapping analysis).
It is based on methodologies and research developed from the following documents:
Access uses network modelled time and distance values as inputs to its analysis. It can utilise a Gravity type distribution method to determine the accessibility of all areas in a network to any particular land use activity. The deterrence coefficient can be adjusted to take into account the method of transport being analysed.

Access outputs data files that can be plotted in NEX or as metafiles using TView. In addition, data outputs are produced in the form of raw accessibility values and indexed values based on a 0-100 scale. This allows for further analysis using population data. Population weighted accessibility results can be used to determine and plot areas that are deficient in accessibility or have inappropriately high levels of accessibility for the existing population base.

Tracks 2012 Release
Thursday, Dec 1 2011
The Tracks 2012 release is now being prepared available and will be available shortly.
The release includes all the updates to the program suite - including changes to Nex, Netben and the Tracks templates.
There is a neat new feature in MxUtil which allows for synchronisation of views across multiple matrices in much the same way Nex can show networks.
The website download page will be updated as soon as it becomes available.
A CD of this release will be sent to registered users, but those who want it sooner can conatct Jim Cox.
Sweep Improvements
Wednesday, Nov 30 2011
Significant imporvements have been made to Sweep for 2012.
Sweep can now cope with much more complicated DXF backgrounds. A DXF block inside a block inside a block inside a block ... should now be possible ( at least as far as computer memory allows ). While Sweep still prefers simple backgrounds, the task of preparing backgrounds is speeded greatly.
And there is now an option for vehicles to be now allowed to turn the frontw heels while at a standstill - aka "Non-Tangential Paths". This option can produce a tighter path than a fully tangential single fluid movement.
The 2012 can be be found on the download page now.

Quake update - Full Steam Ahead
Friday 8th April 2011
After 6 weeks trying to work out of our living rooms, we are now back together under one roof in temporary premises. We have taken a short term lease on a Stonewood homes show home in Linden Grove off Lincoln Road. It is an interesting exercise altering a domestic building into one that will function as an office without significant alteration ,but we seem to have achieved it.
We were able to access the office for an hour two weeks ago and retrieved most of the current records. All historic paper files and furniture are still inside, and as of today there is no indications as to when these may be able to be retrieved.. We were, however able to grab all our electronic records., backups, models etc
From Monday 11th April, our phone system will be operating as before with +64 3 366 9871 being the primary contact number. We have not got the fax operating yet.
